From the Trenches

As a cybersecurity practitioner, I’m seeing a disturbing trend where using AI agents makes us more vulnerable to phishing emails. This is not just about being tricked into clicking on malicious links; it’s about having our very own tools turn against us by generating convincing yet fake messages that can bypass even the most robust security measures.

The recent exploitation of CVE-2026-88771 in NetScaler highlights how critical vulnerabilities can be exploited to gain control over network infrastructure. This is a stark reminder that no system is completely secure, and we must remain vigilant in monitoring our networks for signs of unauthorized access or activity.

I’m also concerned about the “zero-click” malware attack by an Israeli firm, which poses a global security risk. This type of attack allows hackers to infect systems without even needing to click on a malicious link or download any attachments, making it nearly impossible to detect. As practitioners, we must take this as a wake-up call to review our defenses and ensure that all systems are patched against such vulnerabilities.

🔧 Patch Priority: BeyondTrust due to the recent exploitation of its zero-day vulnerability in attacks since August, highlighting the urgent need for timely patching to prevent similar breaches.
